How to Meditate in the Bath

Meditation during a bath with Relic’s salt and mineral blends is both simple and effective. If you’ve never meditated before, or you’ve only done shower meditation, we have a simple guide to help you learn how to add balance and zen in your bath time. 


But first, why should you even practice bath meditation? Step 1: Create the ambiance. 

We know your busy, but taking a few minutes to create a serene environment can make all the difference. Tidy up, dim the lights, and light your favorite candles. If you don’t like scented candles, you can also use a diffuser with your favorite essential oils. Pour yourself a drink, and grab your spa-ready towel. 


Step 2: Prepare your bath with Relic. 

Using Relic’s bath blends is the perfect way to practice a cleansing bath meditation. Relic’s bath salts and blends use the earth’s natural cleansing properties and distills it into your warm bath. To use Relic, fill up your bathtub with warm water. Make sure that the water is between 96-104°F so that it’s relaxing–not too hot and not too cold. (Hot bath meditation, or hot water meditation, is popular, but bathing in water that’s too hot can actually be more harmful than it is healthy.) Take one of any of the four Relic single-bath, pre-measured salt and mineral blends, tear the packet, and pour the entire package into the bathtub. Now, ease into your bath, lean back and close your eyes. 


Step 3: Use a Guided Meditation. 

While there are many different meditation techniques, we suggest using a guided meditation for beginners. Use your phone, tablet, or computer and search “guided meditations for baths.” There are a lot of options, but this is one of our favorites. If you don’t want to do a guided meditation, try taking a few deep breaths to relax, and then start controlling your breath. This is done by counting to a specific number, such as five, as you inhale and exhale. A word of caution: don’t meditate in the bath if you’re drowsy. To reap all the benefits of Relic’s Epsom Salt baths, soak for at least 15 minutes. 


Step 4: Treat yourself. 

During your bath do something that’s just for you. Have your favorite drink nearby, a box of chocolates, or play your favorite music. This is at least 15 minutes of the day that you can focus on centering yourself. Let the earth heal you mentally, physically, and emotionally. You deserve it. 


Step 5: Make it a routine. 

To truly reap the benefits of Relic’s Epsom Salt Baths and Meditation, it needs to be part of your routine. This is a great routine to include in your self-care if you practice meditation for anxiety or anxiety-related health problems. Make a goal to schedule time for yourself at least once a week. However, we suggest meditating during a Relic bath at least three to five times a week, or whenever necessary, to feel the Relic difference.
